Amid bevy of transactions, Sharks to sign ex-Montreal Canadiens forward to NHL deal
SAN JOSE – Forward Ty Dellandrea was placed on injured reserve Friday morning as the San Jose Sharks made a pair of official transactions ahead of their game with the reigning Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers.

With Dellandrea going on IR with an upper-body injury he sustained in Thursday’s game with the Nashville Predators, a 6-5 San Jose loss, the Sharks recalled forward Scott Sabourin from San Jose Barracuda and assigned rookie winger Collin Graf back to the AHL.
Forward and longtime NHLer Colin White practiced with the Sharks on Friday morning. It is expected that the AHL deal he signed with the Barracuda in August will be converted into an NHL contract. White had 10 points in 20 games with the Barracuda this season.
Dellandrea was injured on an open-ice hit by Predators winger Cole Smith during the second period of Thursday’s game at SAP Center. A scrum ensued in front of the Predators bench as Dellandrea left the game, and Smith, after a review, was assessed a match penalty.
The Sharks got a goal from Macklin Celebrini on the five-minute power play to tie the game 5-5, but the Predators got a game-winning power-play goal from Fedor Svechkov in the third period. The loss was the Sharks’ fifth straight.
Dellandrea will not be eligible to play again until the Sharks host the Montreal Canadiens on Feb. 4. Along with Saturday’s game, Dellandrea will have to miss upcoming games this month against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday and the Seattle Kraken on Jan. 30.
Graf had two points in 10 games with the Sharks this season, averaging 14:17 in ice time, but was a healthy scratch against the Predators. He has 26 points in 29 games with the Barracuda this season.
Sabourin had 13 points and 48 penalty minutes in 35 games with the Barracuda.

White has 113 points in 320 career NHL games. In his eight-year professional career, Smith, drafted 21st overall by the Senators in 2015, has played with Ottawa, Florida, Pittsburgh, and Montreal. Last season, he played 17 games with the Canadiens, with two penalty minutes and zero points.
