Valentine’s Day is for the birds at Campbell park
Birding courtship walk
Those who partake in a Valentine’s Day stroll at Edith Morley Park hosted by the Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority might hear the sound of love—or at the very least, the sound of birds determining a suitable partner for mating.
The birding courtship and nesting walk is set for Friday, Feb. 14, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sign up for the event at Eventbrite.com.
‘Gatsby’ ballet
The World Ballet Company is staging the World Premiere of “The Great Gatsby,” based on of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel, on Feb. 8, 7 p.m., at Campbell’s Heritage Theatre.
The original score by composer Anna Drubich, making her ballet debut, embraces the sounds of the Jazz Age, while Ilya Zhivoy’s choreography captures the passion of the central love story.
Despite its adult themes, “Gatsby” is intended as a family-friendly ballet. The company is driven by the belief that ballet is for everyone, and performances are designed to appeal to newcomers and seasoned ballet goers alike.
Tickets are $39-$95 plus a $6.50 facility fee at www.heritagetheatre.org.
Natural rejuvenation
In a belated celebration of World Wetlands Day, the Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority is hosting a virtual tour of wetlands photography on Friday, Feb. 7, 1:30-2 p.m. As looking at pictures of nature has been proven to increase focus and help with planning and problem-solving, it’s also an opportunity for participants to feel rejuvenated and connected to the natural world.
