Police in Seaside seize 5.8 pounds of meth, 14,000 pills, $15,000 in cash

A search at the home of a Seaside man turned up 5.8 pounds of methamphetamine, an estimated 14,000 pills suspected of containing fentanyl and more than $15,000 in cash, Monterey police said Friday.

Monterey detectives, with the assistance of Seaside police, served the search warrant at 11 a.m. Thursday at the home of Johnny Rodriguez, 34, in the 1100 block of Shafer Street near Del Rey Oaks, police said in a press release.

In addition to the methamphetamine, pills and cash, police seized a pound of powdered fentanyl, one-third pound of cocaine, digital scales and package materials.

Police said the estimated street value of the narcotics was $175,000. Rodriguez’ bail was set at $1 million.
