The Warriors won Game 1 by a score of 95-85 on Sunday night behind 31 points from Steph Curry and 25 from Jimmy Butler. Golden State’s defense was the key to the game, as it held Houston to just 39.1% shooting from the field. The Rockets made just six of their 29 attempted 3-pointers.
Houston did hold a major rebounding advantage, collecting 15 offensive boards in the second half alone. The Warriors acknowledged postgame that they will likely have to rebound better in Wednesday’s game to win.
That advantage just wasn’t enough to counter all the mismatches the Warriors exploited in the Game 1 win.
