Man fatally shot in West Oakland

OAKLAND — A man was fatally shot Friday morning in West Oakland, authorities said.

No other information about the man has been released.

Brentwood police chief to retire in September

The shooting happened about 9:02 a.m. Friday outside near the intersection of Seventh and Willow streets, near the main post office.

The man was taken to a hospital where he later died.

A motive for the killing is under investigation. No arrests have been announced and no suspect information has been released by police.

The killing is the 35th homicide investigated by Oakland police this year. Last year at this time police had investigted the same number of homicides.
