
Tier 3 brush fire breaks out in East San Jose foothills
SAN JOSE – Crews on Tuesday afternoon were battling a tier 3-brush fire in East San Jose, fire officials said.

The blaze, dubbed the Ranch Fire, was reported just after 4 p.m. in the 3500 block of Ranch Place, near Cataldi Park, according to the San Jose Fire Department and Cal Fire.
As of 5:10 p.m., the fire had charred 30 acres and was 0% contained.
Resources assigned to the blaze include eight engines, two dozers, two hand crews and a helicopter, Cal Fire said, adding that “air tankers from throughout the state are flying fire suppression mission as conditions allow.”
Time-lapse footage posted by the fire department showed a plume of smoke rising above the fire.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
